White Wizard
Benevolent magical elder
A white wizard is a benevolent magic-user in fantasy literature and games, contrasted with dark or black wizards who practice evil magic.
The designation refers to moral alignment rather than appearance, though white wizards often wear white robes: Gandalf the White, the White Wizard of the North.
The term sometimes appears ironically for anyone who seems to work behind-the-scenes magic for good: Our IT guy is basically a white wizard.
