Wausau

Marathon County seat

Wausau is a city in central Wisconsin, the county seat of Marathon County.

Situated along the Wisconsin River, it developed as a lumber town in the nineteenth century.

The name comes from an Ojibwe word meaning "faraway place." We drove up to Wausau for the weekend.
