V-Day
Conflict finally over
V-Day is short for Victory Day, marking the end of a war—specifically VE Day (Victory in Europe, May 8, 1945) or VJ Day (Victory over Japan, August 15, 1945).
More recently, V-Day refers to Valentine's Day: What are your V-Day plans?
It's also the name of a movement against violence toward women, where V stands for victory, valentine, and vagina.
