Tutankhamun mask
Golden burial face
The Tutankhamun mask is the golden funerary mask discovered in 1922 covering the mummified head of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun.
Made of solid gold inlaid with lapis lazuli and other semiprecious stones, it has become the most recognized artifact of ancient Egypt and a symbol of archaeological discovery itself.
The mask depicts an idealized young king with ceremonial beard and striped headdress.
