TurboGrafx-16

PC Engine rebrand

TurboGrafx-16 is a video game console released by NEC in 1989, competing against the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo.

Known as the PC Engine in Japan, it was the first console to offer a CD-ROM add-on.

Despite a strong library of shooters and arcade ports, it struggled in the American market: I still have my TurboGrafx-16 in the closet somewhere.
