Tower of Pisa
Tilted Italian campanile
The Tower of Pisa is a bell tower in Pisa, Italy, famous for its unintended tilt caused by unstable foundation soil.
Construction began in 1173 and took nearly 200 years to complete, the lean developing early and worsening over centuries.
It has become one of the world's most recognizable landmarks: We took the obligatory photo pretending to hold up the Tower of Pisa.
