Tiramisu

Espresso-soaked ladyfinger confection

Tiramisu is an Italian dessert made of ladyfinger biscuits soaked in espresso, layered with mascarpone cream, and dusted with cocoa powder.

The name means "pick me up" in Italian, referring to the caffeine and sugar.

It became popular in American restaurants in the 1980s and remains a staple of Italian menus: We'll split the tiramisu.
