Tin Lizzie

Ford's first affordable

Tin Lizzie is a nickname for the Ford Model T, the affordable automobile mass-produced from 1908 to 1927 that put America on wheels.

The term now applies affectionately to any old or rickety car: Grandpa's tin Lizzie barely made it up the hill.

The name likely came from Lizzie as a common name for horses and mules.
