The Thinker is a bronze sculpture by Auguste Rodin depicting a nude man seated with chin resting on hand, embodying deep contemplation.
The pose has become iconic shorthand for intellectual struggle or concentration: He sat there like The Thinker, trying to work out the problem.
Originally titled The Poet, it was conceived as part of Rodin's Gates of Hell.
