Waves and beaches
Surf City is a nickname for any beach town with excellent surfing conditions, though it's claimed officially by Huntington Beach, California.
The term evokes the Southern California surf culture of the 1960s, immortalized in the 1963 Jan and Dean hit of the same name: two girls for every boy.
Several actual municipalities bear the name, including towns in North Carolina and New Jersey.
