Jan and Dean

Sixties surf duo

Jan and Dean were an American rock duo of the early 1960s, known for sunny California surf music alongside the Beach Boys.

Their biggest hits—Surf City, Dead Man's Curve, The Little Old Lady from Pasadena—captured car culture and carefree beach life.

The partnership ended tragically when Jan Berry suffered severe brain damage in a 1966 car crash eerily echoing their hit about a deadly race.
