Space Cowboys
Astronauts with attitude
Space Cowboys refers to older men, typically astronauts or pilots, who return to space missions or high-stakes aviation after retirement or long absence.
The term gained currency from the 2000 film of the same name about aging test pilots sent into orbit.
More broadly, it describes any veteran professionals called back for one last mission: They brought in the space cowboys to fix the legacy system nobody else understood.
