Sachsenhausen
Berlin concentration camp
Sachsenhausen was a Nazi concentration camp near Berlin, operating from 1936 to 1945.
It served as a model for other camps and a training ground for SS officers.
Tens of thousands of prisoners—political opponents, Jews, homosexuals, Roma—died there from execution, starvation, and forced labor.
The site is now a memorial and museum.
