S-Class

Luxury vehicle tier

S-Class designates the highest tier or ranking in a classification system, above the standard A-through-D or A-through-F grades.

The term originated in Japanese video games and anime, where an S-Class hero or weapon represents elite status: She unlocked the S-Class character after beating the game.

The S may derive from "special" or "super." Outside gaming, S-Class appears in Mercedes-Benz's luxury sedan line and in various ranking systems where exceptional performance exceeds the normal scale.
