Roman triumph
Conqueror's ceremonial procession
A Roman triumph was an elaborate ceremonial procession through Rome honoring a victorious military commander.
The general rode in a chariot, followed by captives, spoils of war, and his troops, culminating at the Temple of Jupiter.
The term now describes any spectacular public celebration of victory or achievement: His return was a Roman triumph.
