romanize
Convert to Latin
To romanize is to convert text from a non-Latin script into Roman letters—the alphabet used for English and most European languages.
Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and other writing systems can be romanized to help learners or enable typing on standard keyboards: The Japanese word 東京 romanizes as "Tokyo".
Different romanization systems exist for most languages, sometimes causing confusion when the same word appears spelled multiple ways. (Capitalized Romanize means to make Roman in character or bring under Roman influence.)
