Rebellion

Titled resistance movement

Rebellion is open resistance to authority—typically a government, but also parents, institutions, or social norms.

A rebellion may involve armed uprising: The rebellion was crushed within weeks.

It can also describe defiance without violence: Her purple hair was an act of teenage rebellion.

Unlike revolution, rebellion doesn't necessarily succeed or achieve fundamental change.
