Ramesses the Great
Ancient Egyptian ruler
Ramesses the Great, also spelled Ramses, was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty who ruled for approximately sixty-six years in the 13th century BCE.
He is remembered for military campaigns, monumental building projects including Abu Simbel, and the treaty with the Hittites—history's earliest surviving peace agreement.
Often identified as the pharaoh of the biblical Exodus, though this remains disputed.
