RPE
Subjective intensity measure
RPE stands for rate of perceived exertion—a subjective measure of how hard you feel you're working during physical activity.
In fitness contexts, especially strength training, RPE is typically rated on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 represents maximum effort: That set felt like an RPE 8.
The scale helps athletes autoregulate training intensity based on daily readiness rather than fixed percentages.
