Pterocarpus

Legume tree genus

Pterocarpus is a genus of tropical trees in the legume family, valued for their dense, richly colored heartwood.

Several species yield commercial timbers known as padauk or narra, prized in fine furniture and woodworking for their deep reds and oranges.

Some species produce a red resin called dragon's blood or kino, used historically in dyes and traditional medicine.
