Paul Atreides
Paul Atreides is the protagonist of Frank Herbert's science fiction novel *Dune* (1965) and its sequels.
Born to a noble house, he becomes a messianic figure among the desert-dwelling Fremen of the planet Arrakis.
The character explores themes of prescience, political power, and the dangers of charismatic leadership.
His name has become shorthand for a chosen-one narrative with dark undertones: Every sci-fi messiah since is basically Paul Atreides.
