PISA

Worldwide student assessment

PISA is the Programme for International Student Assessment, a worldwide study by the OECD measuring 15-year-olds' academic performance in reading, mathematics, and science.

PISA results, released every three years, spark debates about national education systems: Finland consistently scores high on PISA.

The acronym has become shorthand for international education rankings. (Capitalized Pisa is the Italian city with the leaning tower.)
