Night's Watch

Northern boundary defenders

The Night's Watch is a military order in George R.R.

Martin's *A Song of Ice and Fire* novels and the television adaptation *Game of Thrones*.

Its members guard a massive ice wall at the northern edge of the realm, sworn to celibacy and lifetime service.

He took the black and joined the Night's Watch.

The phrase sometimes describes any thankless duty defending against threats others ignore or deny.
