Miss Mary Mack
Schoolyard hand game
Miss Mary Mack is an American children's clapping game and the rhyme that accompanies it.
Two players face each other and perform a sequence of hand claps while chanting verses about Mary Mack, her silver buttons, and an elephant jumping a fence.
The game teaches rhythm and coordination while the nonsense lyrics (all dressed in black black black, with silver buttons buttons buttons) use repetition that helps young children follow along.
