Midsummer
Longest day's festival
Midsummer refers to the summer solstice celebration, particularly the traditional European festival around June 21-24.
In Scandinavian countries, Midsummer is a major holiday with bonfires, dancing, and flower wreaths: We're spending Midsummer at the lake house in Sweden.
The word also appears in the title of Shakespeare's comedy *A Midsummer Night's Dream*. (Lowercase midsummer is the season.)
