midsummer eve
Solstice night before
Midsummer eve is the evening before Midsummer Day, falling on June 23rd in most traditions.
The night marks the summer solstice celebrations in Northern European cultures, associated with bonfires, folk rituals, and festivities: We lit bonfires on midsummer eve.
In Scandinavian countries especially, the holiday rivals Christmas in importance.
