Midnight Cowboy
Times Square drifter
Midnight Cowboy is a 1969 American film about a naive Texan who moves to New York City hoping to make money as a male prostitute.
The term has since come to suggest a man who hustles sexually in urban settings, or more loosely, someone pursuing desperate schemes in a harsh environment: He thought he'd be a midnight cowboy, but the city chewed him up.
