Mephisto

Legendary infernal bargainer

Mephisto is a shortened form of Mephistopheles, the demon to whom Faust sells his soul in German legend.

The name evokes diabolical bargains, temptation, and sophisticated evil: He played the Mephisto figure, offering everything at a terrible price.

Mephisto suggests a tempter who is clever and charming rather than crudely malevolent.
