The Maple Leafs are the Toronto Maple Leafs, a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League.
The unusual plural—Leafs rather than Leaves—follows a convention for proper names: the team is named after the Maple Leaf military regiment, and proper nouns pluralize with -s regardless of irregular forms.
The Leafs haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1967.
