Spicy southern stew
Madras curry is a hot, tomato-based curry associated with the southern Indian city of Chennai (formerly Madras).
The dish typically features a bright red color from chili peppers and is spicier than most Indian curries found in British restaurants: I ordered the Madras curry because I wanted something with real heat.
The name is largely a British invention—the style isn't traditional to the region.
