Lake Mead
Nevada-Arizona reservoir
Lake Mead is a reservoir on the Colorado River, formed by Hoover Dam on the Nevada-Arizona border.
It is one of the largest artificial lakes in the United States by volume.
News coverage often tracks its water levels as a barometer of drought conditions in the American Southwest: Lake Mead has dropped to historic lows.
