Knoxville

Volunteer State metropolis

Knoxville is a city in eastern Tennessee, the state's third largest and home to the University of Tennessee's main campus.

It served as the state capital until 1819.

The city hosted the 1982 World's Fair and remains a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains: We drove through Knoxville on our way to Gatlinburg.
