Kingdom of Israel
Ancient Levantine monarchy
The Kingdom of Israel was the ancient Hebrew monarchy established around 1000 BCE under Saul, then David and Solomon.
After Solomon's death, it split into two: the northern Kingdom of Israel (conquered by Assyria in 722 BCE) and the southern Kingdom of Judah.
The term appears in biblical scholarship and discussions of Jewish history: The Kingdom of Israel reached its greatest extent under Solomon.
