Kakatiya dynasty

Medieval Deccan kingdom

The Kakatiya dynasty ruled much of present-day Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in India from roughly 1083 to 1323 CE.

Originally feudatories of larger powers, the Kakatiyas became independent and built their capital at Warangal, known for its distinctive fort with ornate stone gateways.

Their rule ended with the Delhi Sultanate's conquest.
