Jonah and whale

Prophet devoured, survived

Jonah and the whale refers to the biblical story in which the prophet Jonah, fleeing God's command to preach to Nineveh, is swallowed by a great fish and survives three days in its belly before being vomited onto shore.

The phrase evokes themes of divine intervention, inescapable duty, or unlikely survival: He emerged from bankruptcy like Jonah from the whale.
