lost sheep
Flock's missing member
A lost sheep is someone who has strayed from a group, faith, or moral path—from the biblical parable where a shepherd leaves ninety-nine sheep to find the one that wandered off.
The term usually carries affection or hope for return rather than condemnation: The church welcomes back its lost sheep.
It can describe anyone who seems directionless or has drifted from where they belong.
