Johnny Ramone

Johnny Ramone was the stage name of John Cummings (1948–2004), guitarist and cofounder of the Ramones, the New York punk band that helped define the genre in the 1970s.

His rapid downstroke technique and stripped-down power chords became a template for punk guitar.

Despite the band's countercultural status, he was notably conservative in his politics.
