The Velvet Underground

The Velvet Underground was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1964, fronted by Lou Reed and John Cale.

Though commercially unsuccessful during their existence, they became enormously influential on punk, alternative, and art rock.

Brian Eno famously quipped that while few bought their first album, everyone who did started a band.

Their experimental sound, literary lyrics, and association with Andy Warhol's Factory made them countercultural icons.

I've been on a Velvet Underground kick lately.
