J.M.W. Turner
J.M.W.
Turner (1775–1851) was an English painter celebrated for his luminous landscapes and seascapes.
His later work anticipated Impressionism, dissolving form into swirling light and atmosphere: The gallery has three Turners.
Turner's name often appears in discussions of Romantic art and the sublime in nature.
