Iraq vet

Gulf War soldier

An Iraq vet is a military veteran who served in the Iraq War, particularly the conflict that began with the U.S. invasion in 2003.

The term appears frequently in discussions of veterans' issues, PTSD, and reintegration challenges: The Iraq vet struggled to find work after his discharge.

Sometimes extended to include veterans of the earlier Gulf War (1990–91).
