I/O error
Data exchange malfunction
An I/O error (input/output error) is a computer failure that occurs when data can't be read from or written to a storage device or peripheral.
The problem typically lies with hardware—a failing hard drive, corrupted disk, loose cable, or malfunctioning USB device: The backup failed with an I/O error.
Software can also trigger I/O errors when file systems become corrupted or permissions block access.
