IV sedation
Intravenous calming medication
IV sedation is sedation delivered intravenously—through a needle into a vein—allowing precise control over depth and duration.
It's commonly used for dental procedures, minor surgeries, and diagnostic tests where patients need to remain calm but not fully unconscious: The oral surgeon recommended IV sedation for the wisdom tooth extraction.
Also called twilight sedation or conscious sedation.
