Rick Sanchez
Rick Sanchez is a fictional character from the animated series *Rick and Morty*—a genius scientist and alcoholic grandfather who drags his grandson on dangerous interdimensional adventures.
The name has become shorthand for a certain type of nihilistic intelligence: someone who uses brilliance to justify selfishness or cruelty.
Fans who claim to "understand Rick" are often mocked for missing the satire: He thinks he's Rick Sanchez but he's really just an asshole.
