Gregory Hines

Gregory Hines was an American dancer and actor (1946–2003) who became the most celebrated tap dancer of his generation.

He brought tap into contemporary prominence through Broadway performances, films like *White Nights* and *Tap*, and television work.

Hines was known for his improvisational style and for mentoring younger dancers, helping revive interest in an art form that had faded from mainstream entertainment.
