Gene Kelly
Gene Kelly (1912–1996) was an American dancer, actor, singer, and filmmaker who transformed movie musicals through athletic, innovative choreography.
Known for combining ballet with everyday movement, he starred in and directed landmark films including *An American in Paris* and *Singin' in the Rain*, whose title number—Kelly dancing joyfully through a downpour—became one of cinema's most iconic scenes.
