GPS positioning
Orbital triangulation system
GPS positioning is determining location using signals from Global Positioning System satellites.
A GPS receiver calculates its position by measuring the time signals take to arrive from multiple satellites orbiting Earth.
The term appears in contexts ranging from navigation to surveying to tracking: The app uses GPS positioning to find nearby restaurants.
Often redundant with simply "GPS," since positioning is the system's core function.
