A GPS marker is a saved location point in a navigation system, recording precise coordinates for future reference.
Hikers drop GPS markers at trailheads or campsites; geocachers use them to log finds.
The term applies both to digital waypoints on a device and to physical markers whose positions have been GPS-recorded: I left a GPS marker at the parking lot so we could find our way back.
