Farthing
British place name
A farthing was a British coin worth one quarter of a penny—the smallest denomination in circulation until withdrawn in 1960.
The word survives mainly in phrases emphasizing worthlessness or insignificance: I don't care a farthing, not worth a farthing.
The biblical widow's mite is sometimes called a farthing in older translations.
