brass farthing
Tiny British denomination
A brass farthing is something of negligible value.
The farthing was the smallest British coin, worth a quarter of a penny, and a brass one would be worthless—not even legal tender.
The phrase survives mainly in negative constructions: I don't care a brass farthing what he thinks.
It's not worth a brass farthing.
