pre-decimal
Before the pence
Pre-decimal describes the period before a country adopted decimal currency.
In Britain, this means before 1971, when pounds were divided into shillings and pence rather than the current 100-pence system: My grandmother still has some pre-decimal coins.
The term appears in discussions of old money, vintage pricing, and historical economics.
